No, frustratingly. I was all keyed up to pick them up on 18 May, and then
the release date slipped at the last moment to 1 June.

But I'm looking (listening?) forward to them: the hissy old EG masters
really do those four albums a disservice IMO.

I listened to these tracks. I think my original CDs sound

Well, that's possibly just RealAudio. Having now given them a listen, I
think the remasters sound better than the old EG discs, though it's not as
night-and-day a comparison as I'd been hoping.

Wondered if anybody would chew that trollage. Of course RA
files are gonna sound like CRAP!

Besides, all the good stuff was remastered already on the Vocal
Box.

I purchased the OM edition of "Warm Jets" last night, and was very impressed
with the sound quality as opposed to the EG release. The improved clarity became
especially apparent on "Paw Paw," the guitar parts being far more distinct than
in past editions. I also remember "Dead Finks" sounding brand new once again. I
only listened through headphones ... naturally it takes some time to
realistically evaluate sound quality, and in my opinion, this is best done when
one is truly in the mood for the music, rather than excitedly plopping it into a
player immediately after purchase, as I did last night. I plan on buying all
four in order of release, perhaps one a week, to make it fun. I never thought
I'd be buying these albums again, but why not? They're all still hold up
beautifully, were a huge influence on so many of us for so many years, and are
incredibly fun to sing along with ... something that doesn't get said too
frequently.

My only complaint is that the plastic outer covering, assumedly sturdy to
protect the digipak from ambient moisture, was so tight as to prevent removal of
the digipak entirely. I had to cut it away, unfortunately. Or perhaps that was
just the expedient solution. :-)

Anyway, if an opinion based on one listening through good headphones can be
trusted, I'd say that these recordings are well worth obtaining, especially if
you're an "audiophile." I'm very keen to hear how the other three sound.

Your sig line indicated that you were, at the time you wrote this post,

Tell me, how did you keep your head from exploding?

I didn't - gobbets of cranial tissue were spewed liberally
throughout the manse. Since my visit to an irreuptable surgeon,
